เพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ลำดับที่ 26 ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ทำนองขณะประทับอยู่วังไกลกังวล พุทธศักราช 2500 ซึ่งวงดนตรี “อ.ส. วันศุกร์” ใช้บรรเลงเป็นเพลงสุดท้ายก่อนเลิกเล่นดนตรีได้พระราชทานให้นำออกบรรเลงในงานสมาคมนักเรียนเก่าอังกฤษในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ณ เวทีลีลาศสวนอัมพร เมื่อวันที่ 17 มีนาคม พุทธศักราช 2500 ผู้ประพันธ์คำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ คือ ศาสตราจารย์ ท่านผู้หญิงนพคุณ ทองใหญ่ ณ อยุธยา ภาษาไทยคือ นายวิชัย โกกิละกนิฐ ต่อมาในพุทธศักราช 2506 นาย Raul Manglapusอดีตสมาชิกวุฒิสภาของประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ประพันธ์คำร้องภาษาอังกฤษ ทูลเกล้าฯ ถวายอีกสำนวนหนึ่ง เมื่อเสด็จเยือนประเทศฟิลิปปินส์และเมื่อบ้านเมืองอยู่ในสถานการณ์ที่ไม่น่าไว้วางใจ สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ จึงได้กราบบังคมทูลขอพระราชทานให้ท่านผู้หญิงมณีรัตน์ บุนนาค ร่วมกับ ม.ล.ประพันธ์ สนิทวงศ์ แต่งคำร้องภาษาไทย “เกิดเป็นไทย ตายเพื่อไทย”เมื่อพุทธศักราช 2514 เพื่อปลุกจิตสำนึกให้คนไทยรักและหวงแหนแผ่นดินไทย
Royal Composition Number 26
The twenty-sixth royal musical composition was written while His Majesty stayed at Klai Kangwon Summer Palace in Hua Hin in 1957. which the "Aw Saw Wan Suk" Band performed as its finale before disbanding. It was granted to be performed in the party of the British University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage at Ambara Dance Hall on 17 March 1957. Composer of the English lyrics was Thanpuying Nopakhun Thongyai Na Ayudhya, while the Thai version was by Mr. Vichai Kokilakanit Later in 1963, Mr. Raul Manglapus, a former senator of the Phillippiness composed the English lyrics and presented it to His Majesty when he visited the Philippines as another version, And in 1971, when the country was in a political turmoil resulting in a precarious situation, Her Majesty the Queen sought a royal permission for a patriotic theme to be written to the tune by Thanpuying Maniratana Bunnag, working jointly with Morm Luang Praphan Sanitwong, under the little "Koet Pen Thai, Thai Phuea Thai" to rouse the conscience of the Thai people on the need to appreciate and protect thier homeland.
