เพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ลำดับที่ 48 ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์เมื่อวันที่ 6 พฤษภาคม พุทธศักราช 2538 เพื่อพระราชทานเป็นของขวัญวันพระราชสมภพครบ 72 พรรษา สมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอเจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา
กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ด้วยทรงรำลึกได้ว่าสมเด็จพระเชษฐภคินี โปรดเสวยพระกระยาหารไข่ เป็นแรงบันดาลพระราชหฤทัยให้ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ กอปรกับทรงพบโคลงสี่ “เมนูไข่” ที่สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯสยามบรมราชกุมารี ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ไว้เมื่อพุทธศักราช 2518 ได้โปรดเกล้าฯ พระราชทานให้พลเรือตรีหม่อมหลวงอัศนี ปราโมช นำไปแยกและเรียบเรียงเสียงประสานเพื่อให้วงดนตรี อ.ส.วันศุกร์ นำออกบรรเลง และขับร้องในงานพระราชทานเลี้ยงฉลองสมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาส ราชนครินทร์ ณ ศาลาดุสิตดาลัย เมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม พุทธศักราช 2538
“...จากนั้นฉันก็แต่งขึ้นอีกเรื่อยๆ จนบัดนี้รวมทั้งสิ้น ๔๐ เพลง
ในระยะเวลา ๒๐ ปี คิดเฉลี่ยปีละ ๒ เพลง
ที่ทำได้ก็เพราะได้รับการสนับสนุนจากนักดนตรี
นักเพลงและนักร้อง รวมทั้งประชาชนผู้ฟัง
ต่างก็แสดงความพอใจและความนิยมพอควร
จึงเป็นกำลังใจให้แก่ฉันเรื่อยมา...”
Royal Composition Number 48
The forty-eighth royal musical composition was written on 6 May 1995, as a gift on the 72nd birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, His Majesty's elder sister. He recalled that she favored egg dishes and was inspired to compose the tune. He also found a short poem entitled "Menu Khai" that Her royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn wrote in 1975, The tune was given to Rear Admiral Mom Luang Assanee Pramoj to be arranged for the Aw Saw Wan Suk Band to perform and sung at the party given in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra for her investiture at Dusidalai Hall on 8 May 1995.
“…Since then I have composed more songs constantly,
Up to now altogether 40 within the period of 20 years,
So two song a year on average. I could do that because
I have got the support from musicians,
Song writers and singers.
Also the listening public has expressed considerable
Satisfaction and admiration,
As my encouragement all the time…”
