          เพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ลำดับที่๓ ทรงพระราชนิพนธ์ในพุทธศักราช ๒๔๘๙ ขณะทรงเป็นสมเด็จพระอนุชาธิราช ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้พระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าจักรพันธ์เพ็ญศิริ ทรงนิพนธ์คำร้องภาษาไทย ส่วนภาษาอังกฤษ พระเจ้าวรวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าจักรพันธ์เพ็ญศิริ ทรงนิพนธ์ร่วมกับท่านผู้หญิงนพคุณ ทองใหญ่ ณ อยุธยา เพลงพระราชนิพนธ์สายฝนนี้ มีลีลานุ่มนวลอ่อนหวาน บรรเลงครั้งแรกในงานรื่นเริงของสมาคมส่งเสริมเลี้ยงไก่แห่งประเทศไทย ณ เวทีลีลาศสวนอัมพร เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ ๒ มิถุนายน พุทธศักราช ๒๔๘๙ จึงเป็นเพลงยอดนิยมของพสกนิกรไทยอีกเพลงหนึ่งจนถึงปัจจุบัน

          The song was composed in 1946, while His Majesty was entitled the Royal Younger Brother. He gave it to His royal Highness Prince Chakrabhand Pensiri to write the lyrics in Thai, and to work jointly with Thanpuying Nopakhun Thongyai Na Ayudhya on the English version. It is a soft and sweet melody, first performed at the fair of the Poultry Raising Promotion Association of Thailand at the Ambara Dance Hall on Sunday, 2 June 1946, and has become another hit with the Thai public up to the present.
